Now that things have calmed down Big Jeff T over at Nomads is back to keepin’ the blues alive here in Bangkok with Soi Dog Blues band holding down a weekly slot at Nomads Silom Soi 4 every Thursday night from 9.00pm to Midnight. Note the earlier start/finish times so you can all make it to work the next day!
Most of you will remember that Nomads was the former Noriega’s which has now been given an upgrade in terms of stage equipment, decor and menu. Big Jeff T is also joining the Nomads team and will primarily
be responsible for PR and advertising as well as arranging special performances, artists from abroad, which means he will once again be sending out regular emails to update all on the happenings at the bar, and news from the scene in general. This does not mean that Nomads will become a blues bar as such, although they will feature the best Bangkok has to offer, but more a haven for those who prefer quality live music in a multitude of genres, each of which will have their weekly/monthly slot.
The first note for your calendar will be coming up in the month of July where we will be featuring Eugene “Hideaway” Bridges, a bona fide bluesman from Texas who will be in town and doing a couple of shows with Soi Dog Blues. Full details will be sent out in next weeks mailing once we have the dates settled.
If you want to come down for a chat and catch up, Big Jeff will be at the bar every Thursday with the band, and hanging out Friday and Saturday nights from around 9.00pm onwards as the bar is showing all of the World Cup games on TV.
In the meantime the traditional Sunday Jam is on at Nomads every week from 9.30pm and is hosted by the versatile Nicolai and his boys. Drop by and catch up with the old crew any Sunday night and bring your instrument along for a go at the stage.
