Apoteka, a cool Bar, Lounge, Laboratory..opened late last year in the trendy Sukhumvit Soi 11 neighborhood of and under the guidance of Danny California has launched its live music offerings featuring BLUES! Performing on Friday, Saturday and Monday nights is Danny’s Blues Allstars. California-native Danny Woody fronts the band. He is a true professional musician of international renown. For many years, he was a mainstay in the Los Angeles jazz and blues scene as a drummer, and in later years, as a singer. Somehow, in 1998, Danny found himself as music director of The Big Easy, the first jazz club in Beijing, China. Later he was recruited as the music director at the hotel bar at the Portman Ritz-Carlton in Shanghai. And now he’s in Bangkok. “My roots,” Danny says, “have always been in the blues. The blues band here just fell together, the vibe is pure blues. And Apoteka, a beautiful vintage-looking club, is cool.”
