Anyone know where I can hire a drum kit and maybe also some amps in Pattaya for the band that’s playing my wedding?
You’re usually better off agreeing an all in price with the band and let them rent the PA, drums and any other gear they need. That way they can’t complain the gear was no good. Working bands know who to call for gear and there are lots of choices.

The stage is open to ALL: beginners, old timers, experienced, non-experienced…basically whoever just wants to get on stage and do their thing are most welcome. Everybody is there to support each other – this is a judgement-free zone.
There will be three microphones, one guitar amp, one bass amp, a drum kit (you will need your own snare, high-hat, cymbals and kick pedal) and a PA System. We will provide a bass guitar and an electro-acoustic guitar but please feel free to bring your own gear. If you wish to bring a keyboard, you will need a keyboard stand and this needs to be set up before 7:30.

Is a junior drum set too small for a 5’3″ person?
I don’t know what you mean by a junior drum set but I have seen kids as young as 7 years old playing happily on a full size kit after appropriate adjustments. Usually what are sold as “junior” or “starter” kits are low quality affairs with shells made from inferior wood and poorly cut leading edges that will never sound good, even after you have ditched the cheap factory heads for something better. That is without talking about the cheap hardware and the trash can lids that are laughingly supplied as cymbals. Actually the bass drum governs the height of the kit. A standard rock bass drum is 22 inches but you can also get 20, 18 and 16 inch drums, the smaller sizes being more suitable for jazz. Also going for smaller toms than the standard rock set up would reduce the overall bulk of the kit. Don’t get a poor quality kit, as it will never sound good, whatever you do to it, and you will be quickly discouraged.

At the moment he makes various distortion pedals and coming next week, tremolo and chorus. Obviously effects pedals are a personal choice, but they sound pretty good to me and the price is right.

Looking for a studio in BKK with an engineer that knows how to get a big sound for my electronic music. Ideally running logic 9, with a mackie digtal desk and some decent external compressors. Looking for someone who knows sound and how to tweak dirty basslines and big beats for maximum effect. Working on an album so will be long term project. I am offering for sale my very clean Marshall (vintage year 1968) JMP 1930 hand-built tube amplifier. Made in England. I have owned this amp for about 8 years, and it is in excellent and beautiful original condition, and has warm tone for days…years in fact. Marshall specs stated this was a 10 watts rms (but techs rate it at closer to 13 watts rms), with two (2) original 10” Celestion speakers. It is the perfect studio (small club gig) all valve combo, where it achieves that nasty-grind-overdrive sound sought after in the early Marshalls…no peddles needed! Amp has two (2) channels, one being tremolo, the other normal, with two (2) inputs for each channel. Cosmetically in excellent shape and working sweetly. THB 59,800

Vintage ’76 Fender Dual Showman Reverb Amp – Excellent Condition – THB29900 (Bangkok)
Up for sale is my mid 70’s Fender Dual Showman® Reverb guitar amplifier. I purchased this amp in the SF Bay Area in 1978 from the original owner and it has never failed me. I hand-carried it to Bangkok (9yrs ago) for my gigs here. These Showman amps are bullet-proof and indestructible. These are all-tube, hand-soldered point-to-point amps, and are Fenders ‘workhorse professional’ amps (same circuitry and power as Fender Twin Reverb). This amp is in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Before I brought it out, I had The Amp Lab of Redwood City, CA go over the amp and restore (blackface) some of the ‘60’s charm to the circuitry. The tolex has normal wear and looks great for its age. Sounding crisp, with that Fender chime, and full-bodied at all volume levels…however, this amp will scream as it pushes a beefy 100 watts RMS. Beautiful, clean vintage Fender tone all the way, and Reverb that sings. Loves peddles. This amp is a fine example of the early-mid Fender Silver-face era amplifiers. This amp comes with a custom-built non-Fender 2×12” cab loaded with excellent condition vintage ‘69 Fender/Oxford speakers, they sound great. (I have a second identical 2×12 speaker cabinet also available). I will also include an ultra heavy-duty 110/220 power transformer for all your gigs around town. I do not care how much money you are able to spend on a new amp, they will never sound like these vintage gems.

29 years old with a B.A. in music performance from the University of Colorado Denver (USA) and experience playing with a variety of different groups/ styles: jazz, rock, latin and pop bands.
I’m a serious musician, reliable, honest and committed. I differ from many guitarists in the sense that I prefer a laid-back style with a very atmospheric/ambient feel as opposed to overplaying tired rock licks, however I’m certainly able to step it up when needed and I’m quite flexible stylistically, but anything modern jazz or soul oriented is my personal cup of tea. Rock covers, jazz standards, Thai songs or pop tunes, that’s cool too – it’s all good.

I was advised by a Music Software company in the U.S. that I may have to pay additional shipping/customs charges here in Thailand besides the International Shipping charges to them.
My item is small and the value is only about $150.

Depending on buying terms. Most probably buyer will supply terms CFR Bangkok. In this case there would be additional charges in Thailand for airfreight of approx THB 2500.- up to THB 3000.-.for handling and clearance not incl. Delivery to your door. However in your case for such a small shipment using courier (such as TNT,Fedex etc.) would work out cheaper, they offer all in rate ex door supplier to your door without any additional charges, you might only have to pay for customs duty and VAT.

FedEx would be a good choice. Shipper will arrange shipment & and include costs on their billing invoice. Thai Duty/VAT is levied on sum of the cost of goods + freight!!!
If the items were to be declared as having a low value (say US$20) then as an ‘informal’ clearance’ likely no Thai import duty or tax. High values attract formal clearance processes and subsequent duty and VAT. Maybe your supplier can help you with a ‘low value’ invoice document?

Would appreciate recommendations for a good guitar tech in Bangkok. I think someone responded to this before but now I can’t find the response here. More particularly I’m looking for a good tech for; rewiring, changing pots & caps and switches, replacing bridge, replacing nut, adjusting neck and setting up a few high quality electric guitars (Gibson, PRS, Fender) that have been in storage for some years. Not really a classified but looking for help. I recently bought a Fender FM65R amp. I am playing an Ibanez JSM100 through a Line 6 Pod X3 Live. With or without the Line 6 I am get a massive low frequency buzz from the amp. I’m told it is because of the 1 x 12 and that it is solved in the 2 x 12 100R model. Apart from selling it has anybody got any suggestions? I suspect I will have to change models and it was cheap for a 65 watt combo

Hi John, we play a variety of older classics revamped and beefed up, for eg: the kinks, joe walsh, spencer davis, bad company, as well as some of our own songs. the band now consists of keyboards, guitar drums and vocal.
