It would be too much to say all of Bangkok fell in love with the Blues Gangsta Glenn Patrik when he touched down a few weeks ago and stayed to deliver a truck load of genuine American blues to willin’ crowds. But shit, we miss the man and his rare authenticity.

Not so easy to find perhaps but well worth the trouble most nights, you can find this very special live blues bar on Sam Saen Road, just where the Norarat Sathan Bridge crosses the Bang Lamphu Canal and right next door to the Baghdad Cafe too.

The Soi Dog Blues Band, having just put Glenn Patrik on a plane back home after his awesome residency at Tokyo Joe’s thru August, have included Keith ‘Easy Rollin’ Nolan in their line-up tonight.

Blues maestro Glenn Patrik, surely one of the best ever guitar players - blues or otherwise - to bless this city with his presence winds down his impromptu residency at Tokyo Joe’s tonight (Saturday), guesting with the house band Soi Dog Blues Band, and once again likely playing to a packed house - a familiar sight since this brilliant blues artist first took the stage at the Bangkok Blues Festival

Word up music fans. We are told Malaysian blues sensations Serious Trouble who starred at the Bangkok Blues Festival are coming back to Bangkok in October for a full on gig. More about the gig’s when and where when we get it. And there might be a mini blues festival in Pattaya in November preceding a full blues festival next year? Jazz axe monsters Alan Holdsworth and Scott Henderson are maybe coming to town later in the year…but not together? Stu Hamm plays Overtone RCA end August (true)!

This feast of contemporary blues is like a fine meal and like any good spread you need to finish with just the right dish.
